Two terrorists, including Pakistani commander Abdullah Gojri and local LeT Commander Musaib, were killed by security forces in an encounter late on Monday night in Bemina, on the outskirts of the district.
During this, a policeman was also seriously injured. Both the slain terrorists were part of a three-member LeT suicide squad that infiltrated Kashmir last month to attack the Shri Amarnath Yatra.
Hanjla, a Pakistani terrorist of this squad, was killed in an encounter on June 6 in Jalura, Sopore.
Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said that this is a big success in view of the Amarnath Yatra. Both the slain terrorists were members of a three-member Lashkar squad sent from Pakistan last month.
LeT commanders sitting in Pakistan had sent two Pakistani terrorists along with Adil Hussain Mir alias Abu Sufian alias Musaib, a resident of Pahalgam, to Lahore and Abdullah Gojri resident of Faisalabad.
Only after this party entered Kashmir, the security forces were behind it.
On June 6, security forces surrounded these three terrorists in Jalura, Sopore. Hanja was killed in the encounter while his other accomplices escaped.
He told that Adil and Abdullah Gojri were hiding at a particular place in the Bemina area of Srinagar with the help of their guide and overground network.
On Monday night itself, we got information about their whereabouts, and our special operations team along with the army personnel tried to nab them.
During this encounter, one of our policemen was injured, but both the terrorists were killed.
The IGP said that one of the slain terrorists has been identified as Adil Hussain Mir alias Abu Sufian alias Musaib.
He was a resident of Pahalgam in district Anantnag and had gone to Pakistan four years ago on the basis of visa-passport. He went to Pakistan via the Wagah border.
Lashkar had sent him along with Pakistani terrorists Hanjla and Abdullah Gojri to Kashmir last month. He was given the responsibility for the attack on the annual pilgrimage to Amarnath.
The IGP said that with the killing of these two terrorists, so far this year, the security forces have killed 102 terrorists in the valley.
