UK New Prime Minister: UK Will Get New PM On September 5

UK New Prime Minister: Britain will get a new Prime Minister on September 5, know who are the other leaders including Rishi Sunak in this race.

In the United Kingdom (UK), the new Prime Minister to replace Boris Johnson will be announced on 5 September.

On Monday, Graham Brady, chairman of the Conservative Party’s backbench 1922 committee, gave information.

Brady stated that the 1922 committee, (formally known as the Conservative Private Members’ Committee) decided that candidates would have to have the support of 20 members of parliament (MPs).

This limit is much higher than the required support of eight lawmakers seen in the party’s general rules, Xinhua news agency reported.

The first round of voting among Tory MPs will take place on Wednesday, he said, adding that contenders will need to get 30 votes to enter the second ballot which is due to vote on Thursday.

The number of claimants will be reduced to two.

He said the number of claimants would be reduced to two before the MPs split for the summer vacation on July 21.

The final two contenders will then go through the summer postal ballots from all Conservative members, who number around 200,000, and the winner will be made the next UK prime minister.

Brady said, ‘I’m very keen that we make this process as easy and fast as possible, which will allow postal ballots to take place nationwide over the summer.

“We need to ensure that we have enough time before the results are declared on September 5,” he said.

Know who is in the prime minister’s race.

So far, 11 candidates have shown their interest to be the next leader of the Conservative Party.

Let us inform you that among these leaders, International Trade Minister Penny Mordant, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, and former Health Secretary Sajid Javid are at the forefront.

Most of the claimants have vowed to cut taxes, from corporation tax to income tax, reports Xinhua news agency.

About 30 UK government officials, including prominent figures such as UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, have recently submitted their resignations over the scandal involving former Deputy Chief Whip Christopher Pincher.

A total of 58 ministers left the government following a morality scandal that eventually forced the UK prime minister to resign.

Johnson, who won a landslide victory in the general elections in 2019, lost support after being embroiled in several scandals including the Partygate scandal and the Pincher scandal.
