UK Political Crisis: UK Government Wins Trust Vote

UK Political Crisis: UK government wins trust vote, chances of general election postponed.

Members of the UK Parliament voted in favor of the government in the House of Commons on Monday. Incumbent Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government won by getting 238 votes out of 349.

Johnson’s government had called for a trust vote on Monday night in view of the rivalry of the main opposition Labor Party.

Boris Johnson’s government in Britain has won a vote of confidence in the House of Commons. With this, Britain has postponed the general election in the country. The parliamentarians of the house have supported the government of the outgoing prime minister.

With this, the crisis of mid-term elections in front of the government has been averted. The government won by getting 238 votes out of 349.

If the trust vote was lost, the government could have had to hold a general election.

Meanwhile, opposition Labor leader Keir Starmer urged lawmakers to move a no-confidence motion for Johnson.

Ian Blackford, leader of the Scottish National Party, said, “Today we have a chance to cast our verdict on a failed PM and a conservative party that is falling before us.”

The debate on the motion of no confidence was broadcast on the website of the British Parliament. Johnson himself called a no-confidence motion after the opposition Labor Party requested a motion of no confidence in the government and Johnson himself.

According to Sputnik News, the prime minister’s office rejected the request, saying Labor was “playing politics,” and their claim was not “a valuable use of parliamentary time” because Johnson was already resigning.

According to the Conservative Party Backbench 1922 committee, the four remaining were former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak (115 votes).

International Trade Minister Penny Mordaunt (82 votes), Foreign Secretary Liz Truss (71 votes), and former Equality Minister Kemi Badenoch (58 votes). )
