UNCTAD Report- More Than 3 Crore People Will Be Poor

UNCTAD report: Not if the situation improves, more than 3 crore people will go below the poverty line.

The current year is going to be the worst for developing and poor countries facing the Kovid-19 epidemic.

This has been mentioned in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report. It states that these countries will face the worst economic situation in three decades amid this epidemic.

It states that unemployment in these countries has increased tremendously after the epidemic and the level of income has steadily decreased.

Due to this, more than 30 million people in about 47 countries of the world will go to poverty and lower levels in the coming time.

Let us tell you that UNCTAD keeps a close watch on the economic condition of all such poor countries of the world and helps these countries to keep pace with the world.

Low impact of covid-19

This report of UNCTAD also mentions a very special thing. It says that the initial impact of the corona epidemic in these countries has been small, but its economic impact has been very wide.

According to the report, between October 2010-October 2020, the economic growth rate of such countries has been reduced from 5 percent to 0.4 percent.

Due to this, the per capita income of the people here is also expected to decrease by about two and a half percent. The organization’s director-general, Mukhasa Kitui, says that the settlers in these countries are already victims of economic crisis.

Before the pandemic of covid-19, some of the economic progress that had taken place in these countries is also seen to be worthless.

Multiple drops

Apart from the economic conditions, the people here have also steadily fallen on the level of nutrition, health, and education.

As far as the impact of the covid-19 epidemic is concerned, experts have said in this report that it is due to low population density and a high population of youth.

However, UNCTAD has expressed apprehension about its future. It has been said that the spread of this virus can have a bad effect on the health sector here, which can cause great problems for the poor people here.

More than crore people will be below the poverty line

According to the report, poor countries whose economy is based on clothes, metals, minerals, may face more problems. The reason for this is the tremendous fall in their prices in the world market.

The reason for this is due to the widespread corona epidemic in the world. It also states that if this economic crisis does not end soon, it will have a wider impact.

In such a situation, the production capacity of these countries will fall to dangerous levels. Significantly, the United Nations has already warned of the rise in the poverty level along with world food insecurity.

This report states that in such poor countries, there can be a tremendous increase in the number of people whose income is one hundred and fifty rupees per day.

In the report, it is expected to increase from 3 percent to 35 percent. In such a situation, more than 30 million people living in these countries of the world will go below the poverty line.

Appeal for help

Although the director-general of the organization says that these countries have put all resources at stake to save themselves from this financial crisis, but still they are not able to overcome it.

In such a situation, it is going to be the biggest challenge to put these countries back on their feet.

The production capacity of these countries is already low but in the event of no improvement soon, it will fall further. They have called for help for these countries at the international level.
