In most of the states of India, roads have improved very rapidly in the last few years. After which people like to travel long distances by air and train as well as by their car.
What is the difference between State Highways, National Highways and expressways? We are telling you in this news.
State Highway.
As per its name, state highways are built only within a state. Through these, two cities of the same state are connected. The cost of building them is also borne by the state government.
If a toll tax is taken on it, then it is also taken by the state government. Speed limits and other arrangements on these are also given by the state government.
In many states, the speed limit on the state highway is kept up to 80 kilometers. State highways are usually made of four lanes.
National Highway.
Unlike state highways, national highways are constructed after the approval of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of the Central Government.
In India, such highways are generally built and maintained by the National Highway Authority of India. National highways are not built in any one state, but many states are connected through them.
Usually, the speed limit for vehicles on national highways is 80 to 100 kilometers. The toll booths on them are operated by NHAI. National highways are made of six lanes.
Expressway.
In the last few years, expressways have been constructed very fast in India. These mainly include expressways like Delhi-Mumbai, Dwarka Expressway, Delhi-Dehradun-Katra.
These are also built by the central government and are maintained by NHAI. These are better than national highways because they are built with access control.
These are a thousand kilometers or more long, connecting many cities in the country. Expressways are usually made of six to eight lanes.
Along with this, service lanes are also made. Due to access control, the speed limit of vehicles on these is 100 to 120 kilometers.
