Union minister Shripad Naik injured in a road accident, death of wife and personal assistant, PM directs for better treatment.

Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik has been seriously injured in a road accident on Monday. His wife Vijaya and personal assistant have died in the accident. Naik is an MP from North Goa.

An official said that the accident occurred near Ankola in North Kannada district of Karnataka. 68-year-old Naik was returning to Goa with his wife Vijaya and personal assistant Deepak by car from the shrine of Karnataka.

He was accompanied by his nearest Sai Kiran, security personnel, and driver in the car.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said late Monday that Union Minister Shripad Naik was injured in a road accident at the Goa Medical College cum Hospital (GMCH) and his condition is stable.

The Union minister’s car crashed in the neighboring state of Karnataka.

His wife and assistant riding in a car along with Naik died in the accident. The accident occurred near Ankola in Uttar Kannada district.

At that time, the minister was returning to Goa from a religious place in Karnataka.

North Goa MP Naik was later admitted to GMCH Hospital. Sawant said that the condition of the Union Minister was critical earlier but he is now ‘stable’.

The Chief Minister said that a team of doctors, under the leadership of Dr. Shivanand Bandekar, Dean of GMCH, is treating them. They are being provided with excellent medical care.
