UP govt gave its explanation To SC About Hathras Incident. The UP govt gave its view to the Supreme Court, why did the last rites of the dead vicitim were performed at the night.

The UP government and the Hathras district administration presented their views in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The PIL was sought in the Supreme Court seeking a probe by the CBI or SIT on the Hathras rape and murder.

The UP government gave its explanation in the Supreme Court on Tuesday night (September 29) on the matter of performing the last rites of the deceased woman.

The Hathras district administration has claimed in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that in order to save the district from major violence, the parents of the deceased woman had to be cremated at night.

The district administration informed the Supreme Court that intelligence reports had been received that there would be lakhs of people gathering there, which was likely to cause a big uproar. These people there could have communalized this episode with caste.

The Uttar Pradesh government urged the Supreme Court to oversee the CBI investigation in the Hathras case. The UP government told the court that on the pretext of the Hathras case, a campaign is being conducted to discredit the UP government on social media, print media, and electronic media.

On September 14, in Bulgadhi village of Hathras, a 19-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly beaten up after gang-raping four men. During this, an attempt was made to assassinate her.

The victim from Hathras was admitted to the Medical College of Aligarh, from where she was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on 28 September. On September 29, the victim died while undergoing treatment.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday heard the petition of social activist Satyam Dubey and two lawyers Vishal Thackeray and Rudra Pratap Yadav. The petition alleges failure by the Uttar Pradesh authorities to deal with the case.

The case was heard by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde of the Supreme Court. The petitioners have stated that gross injustice has been done to the woman and her family. The victim’s body was burnt by the police without the consent of the family.

Police officers have not performed their duties towards the victim’s family and are trying to rescue the accused persons. A gross injustice was done to the victim and the administration is silent on the issue.

The petitioners also demanded the transfer of the case from UP to Delhi. The petitioners requested that it be recommended to refer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
