A head constable was suspended after he was allegedly seen in a video with armed men. After this, there is an uproar in the Churachandpur district of Manipur.
The tribal organization has adopted an aggressive attitude regarding the suspension of the head constable.
Meanwhile, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has urged government employees in Manipur’s Churachandpur district not to report for work from Monday.
The tribal organization has called for the revocation of the suspension of Head Constable Siyamlalpaul and stressed its demand for “immediate replacement” of Superintendent of Police Shivanand Surve and Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar.
A few hours after the suspension of the head constable on February 15, a mob in Churachandpur entered the government complex containing SP and DC offices, set vehicles on fire, and vandalized property.
After which at least two were killed in the firing by security forces. People were killed and 30 were injured.
“More than 24 hours have passed since ITLF gave the ultimatum to revoke the suspension order of Head Constable Siamalalpaul and replace Churachandpur SP and DC, but no revocation or replacement has been done till now,” the organization said in a statement. ”
“State government employees should avoid going to office…if any untoward incident occurs, it will be their sole responsibility,” the organization said.
A video showing Head Constable Siyamlalpaul sitting with ‘armed men’ and ‘village volunteers’ has gone viral on social media. After which he was kept suspended with immediate effect till further orders.
