Virat Kohli rejected the advice of veterans, In the fourth test match, India will change this department.
India captain Virat Kohli talks about the changes for the fourth Test after the third Test against England by an innings and 76 runs.
Addressing a post-match virtual press conference, Indian skipper Virat Kohli rubbished the concept of playing an extra batsman in the next match. However, he indicated a change in the bowling department.
The Indian team’s lower middle order flopped badly after getting a good start from the top order on the fourth day of the Leeds Test match on Saturday.
On the other hand, Kohli said after the match, “I don’t believe in that balance (picking an extra batsman). I never believed in that balance.
Either you can try and save (yourself) from defeat. Or you can try and win the game and we have drawn matches in the past with the same number of batsmen.”
Virat said, “If your top 6 (including the wicketkeeper) are not successful then there is no guarantee that an extra batsman can do more.
Virat Kohli rejected the advice of veterans: You have to take responsibility and feel proud to work for the team.
You don’t have the capability or the resources to take 20 wickets in a Test match, so you’re already playing for two results and that’s not how we play.”
At the same time, regarding the change in the bowling department, Virat Kohli said that we have to manage the workload and we do not want the leading bowlers to play four consecutive Test matches.
He said, “We will have this conversation with people and you can’t expect these guys to play four consecutive Test matches in such a small change.”
“So, we will assess who are those people who need to recover. And on the fifth day, so many days will be given to recover.”
Let us tell you that earlier, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar and former batsman Sanjay Manjrekar had suggested that India should go with an extra batsman in the fourth Test starting on September 2.
However, captain Virat Kohli does not believe so.
He said that Team India had come under pressure from the scoreboard in Leeds and there was a lot of pressure from England bowlers. He was bowling in the area where we were having trouble.
