A two-year-old girl was suspected to be infected with monkeypox in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada.

But her blood sample tested at the National Institute of Virology in Pune has confirmed that she is not infected.

State health director J. Niwas said blisters were found on the hands of a two-year-old girl who had come from Dubai to Vijayawada.

He was admitted to the government hospital along with his family members on Sunday and kept in isolation as a precaution.

“We sent the girl’s blood samples to NIV-Pune for testing and no monkeypox infection was found in them,” Niwas said in a release. The child’s family did not come in contact with anyone else.
