VSHORDS missile test success: India’s missile defense capabilities have advanced with the successful testing of the indigenous VSHORDS system. DRDO’s latest achievement enhances low-altitude air attack defense. The defense budget for 2025-26 also sees a significant increase.
India’s strength increased in the field of missiles, low altitude air attacks will be destroyed; three successful tests completed. India has achieved great success in making a Swadeshi Portable Air Defense System. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully tested the VSHORDS missile system in Chandipur, Odisha on Saturday.
This missile system can accurately destroy any enemy drone or other target flying at low altitude. This missile system has been developed keeping in mind the requirements of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. It will further strengthen the air defense system in the country.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO and the Armed Forces for this important achievement. In all three tests, the missile destroyed the targets flying at high speed at low altitude. These targets were designed as drones flying with low thermal indicators so that they could be tested in different flight conditions.
Following the path of stability in the defense budget, the central government has allocated Rs 6,81,210 crore for defense expenditure in 2025-26. The defense budget has been increased by 9.53 percent in the new financial year as compared to Rs 6.22 lakh crore allocated in the previous budget.
In this allocation of the defense budget, the share of capital allocation for the modernization of the three armies and the purchase of weapons and equipment is only Rs 1,80,000 crore. The purchase of new weapons, fighter planes, warships, and other military hardware equipment on a large scale for the three armies is to be done from capital allocation only.
Capital expenditure was Rs 1.72 lakh crore in the current financial year and in the new budget, it has been increased by only Rs 8,000 crore. The total allocation of the defense sector is about 13.45 percent of the general budget, which is more than other ministries, but it is only 1.9 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
It is also interesting that the biggest increase in defense allocation has been in the pension head. A provision of Rs 1,60,795 crore has been made for the pension of military personnel. This is an increase of 13.8 percent compared to the previous budgetary estimate of Rs 1,41,205 crore.

While indulging in these snacks occasionally is fine, regular consumption can lead to serious health issues. The key is moderation and opting for healthier versions when possible. Instead of deep-frying, try baking or air-frying. Swap refined flour for whole grains and use healthier cooking oils like olive or coconut oil. Remember, a balanced diet is crucial for maintaining good health. So, the next time you’re tempted by a plate of hot samosas or a crispy vada pav, think twice and make a healthier choice!
