WHO chief praised India, says decisive steps taken to end Covid-19. World Health Organization (WHO chief) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebriasis has praised the Corona vaccine in India.
Praising the decisions taken by the Government of India to end the pandemic, the WHO chief said that as the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer, India has fulfilled its resolve to end the Covid-19 pandemic.
WHO chief tweeted, ‘India is constantly taking decisive steps to end the Corona epidemic. India is doing its job as the world’s largest vaccine producer.
Appreciating PM Modi’s efforts in the fight against the epidemic, he wrote, “If we work together fully, using effective vaccines can ensure the goal of saving the most vulnerable people everywhere.”
With the help of the Serum Institute of India, India has the capacity to manufacture the highest amount of vaccine than any other country in the world.
Alvan Barat has received authorization to mass-produce the vaccines of AstraZeneca, Novavax, and Gamble Research Institute.
The world’s largest domestic vaccination campaign is going to start soon in a country with a population of 130 crore people.
The country has good experience with such immunization campaigns for various diseases like polio and cholera. In India, first-line healthcare workers and persons over 50 years of age will be vaccinated.
The government aims to immunize some 250 million people in six to eight months.
