A new variant of Akash missile ‘Akash Prime’ was successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) off Chandipur off Odisha coast on Monday.

This missile will be used by the Indian Air Force to deal with enemy airstrikes. This missile has been prepared by DRDO. The length of this missile is 560 cm and the width is 35 cm.
This missile has the power to carry explosives up to 60 kg weight. Akash missile is fully maneuverable and is capable of protecting a moving convoy of vehicles.
The launch platform of this missile is integrated with both wheeled and track vehicles, while the Akash system is primarily designed as an air defense (surface-to-air).
This missile has also been tested in the defense role. Much state-of-the-art equipment has been added to this missile and this missile is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.
