Amarnath Yatra begins, 2,750 pilgrims leave for darshan from Nunwan base camp.

The annual Amarnath Yatra (Amarnath Yatra 2022) began on Thursday with a batch of 2,750 pilgrims from Nunwan Base Camp leaving for a cave temple in the south Kashmir Himalayas.

Deputy Commissioner Piyush Singla flagged off the batch of pilgrims from Nunwan base camp at Pahalgam in the Anantnag district.

Singla informed that all arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the 43-day pilgrimage.

“Our endeavor is to ensure that the pilgrims feel safe and can have a peaceful darshan of the Shivling in the holy cave of the temple,” he said.

Amarnath Yatra begins: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the batch.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday morning dispatched the first batch of 4,890 pilgrims for the annual Amarnath Yatra from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu city to visit Pahalgam and Baltal base camps in Kashmir.

Officials said that the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has also made arrangements for an online darshan of the naturally formed ice lingam.

He said this year the number of pilgrims is expected to be higher than normal as the yatra is being organized after a gap of nearly three years.

It is noteworthy that in the year 2019, the yatra was postponed midway after the Central Government abrogated most of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir,

While in the years 2020 and 2021, the yatra was not organized due to the covid-19 pandemic. The Amarnath Yatra will end on August 11, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Thousands of devotees on Wednesday had darshan of the “new youth” form of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra at the 12th-century Shree temple in Puri, Odisha.

Devotees visited this form of God after nearly two years as restrictions were in place on the gathering of devotees due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

The state government has allowed people to come to the temple after the reduction in the cases of Covid-19.
