Anvay Naik case: Arnab and other accused ignore the suicide threat, police filed a charge sheet.
According to the Charge-Sheet filed against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and two others in the 2018 case of abetment to suicide.
The accused paid no heed to the threats of the victim Anvay Naik That if the dues are not paid by all three, he will commit suicide.
In another development related to the case, Goswami (Arnab Goswami) has again filed a petition in the Bombay High Court on Saturday, requesting that the lower court should not take cognizance of the charge sheet.
The police filed a charge sheet on Friday in the 2018 case for allegedly abetting suicide against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and two others.
The charge sheet has been filed before a court in Alibag in the neighboring Raigad district.
The charge sheet also said that Naik, who was under mental stress due to non-payment of dues by the accused, first strangled his mother Kumud, who was his partner in the business, and then hanged himself.
Police on Friday presented the charge sheet in a court in Alibag in the nearby Raigad district. The case of allegedly provoking the interior decorator Anvay Naik and his mother for suicide is going on in Raigad itself.
Apart from Goswami, the names of two other accused Feroz Sheikh and Nitish Sharda are also in the charge sheet.
According to the charge sheet, the victim (Naik) told him (to the accused) that he would commit suicide if he does not pay his dues. The accused, however, ignored his threat and asked him to do what he wanted.
” It said, “The accused did not pay his dues, due to which Naik was under mental stress. She strangled her mother first thinking that she might have problems later because she too was a business partner. ”
The charge sheet states that Naik wrote a letter before committing suicide and later hanged himself. Police said they relied on the alleged suicide note as a “pre-emptive statement”.
The police said that the handwriting of the letter was matching with Naik’s handwriting and the forensic report indicated that he was not under pressure while writing it.
Police had earlier said that Naik, owner of Concord Design Pvt Ltd, in his suicide note claimed that he was ending his life due to non-payment of dues from Goswami, Feroze Sheikh, and Nitish Sharda.
Police said that according to the note, the three had to pay Naik 83 lakh, four crores, and 55 lakh rupees respectively.
Rahul Aggarwal, the lawyer for one of the accused, said on Saturday that the court will take cognizance of the 1914-page charge sheet on December 16.
Goswami filed a petition in the Bombay High Court on Saturday demanding that the Alibag court be instructed not to take cognizance of the charge sheet.
He alleged that the police, knowing very well, gave the charge sheet to the court that they had filed a petition in the High Court on Thursday itself to stop the filing of the charge sheet.
In May this year, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh announced that he had ordered a re-investigation on the complaint of Ananya Naik’s daughter Adanya Naik in a case previously closed by the police.
The Alibag police arrested Goswami, Sheikh, and Sarada on November 4, but on November 11, they were granted bail by the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has questioned the decision of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress coalition government to file the charge sheet despite the remarks made by the Supreme Court while granting bail to Goswami and others.
He asked, “Isn’t this a mockery of the Supreme Court’s decision? Do they want to suppress personal freedom again.
