Army Chief General MM Naravane Visited Southern Command

Army Chief visited Southern Command, also reviewed companies promoting self-reliant India.

Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on Friday visited the Southern Command and reviewed the Engineering Research Center and Strategic Systems Complex of large private companies engaged in defense manufacturing.

The Army Chief is currently on a two-day visit to the Southern Command adjoining Pune and Goa. During his visit to Pune, the Army Chief visited the Tata Motors factory in Pimpri.

There he oversaw the assembly lines of passenger and commercial vehicles and the operation of the Engineering Research Center (ERC).

A range of Tata vehicles including Zenan, AWD (4×4) Troop Carrier, Light Bullet Proof Vehicle and Combat Support Vehicle, Earth Mine Protected Vehicles and Wheeled Armored Amphibious Platform AWD (8×8) configuration was on display, the Army said in a statement.

Naravane also visited the strategic systems complex of Larsen & Toubro at Talegaon near Pune and witnessed their production facilities and development efforts towards modernization of the Armed Forces.

He was briefed about various defense-related programs and the engagement of Larsen & Toubro with the Indian Army.

The village Atali is famous for sending brave soldiers to the army to protect the motherland.

Sandeep Kaliraman of here gave his martyrdom during the search operation of terrorists in Pulwama.

While Birak Singh, a jawan of the same village, fired 28 bullets during the terrorist search operation in Kashmir and killed three terrorists. Every patriot salutes the spirit of such a brave Soorma.

For this bravery, the then Chief of Army Staff, Shankar Rai Choudhary has been honored with the Army Medal. Birak Singh’s three sons are also in the army and one is in the merchant navy.

Introduction.

Birak Bhan was born on 16 April 1964 to Narayan Singh Contractor, a resident of Atali village.

After passing the 10th examination joined the army on 16 September 1983 and was inducted into the 11 Rajputana Rifle Regiment.

Now retired from the army, Birak Bhan is working as a security guard in a bank.
