Assam Rifle convoy attacked in Manipur, five soldiers martyred, commanding officer’s wife and son also killed, Defense Minister Rajnath said – will not be spared.
The Commanding Officer (CO) of the 46th Battalion of the Assam Rifles, two of his family members, and four paramilitary personnel were killed in an ambush in Manipur on Saturday.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has strongly condemned the attack, saying that the attack on the Assam Rifles convoy at Churachandpur in Manipur is cowardly and condemnable.
The culprits involved in this attack will not be spared. Strict action will be taken against them. These culprits will be brought to justice soon.
Assam Rifle convoy attacked: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has also strongly condemned the attack.
He said- I strongly condemn this cowardly attack on 46 Assam Rifles convoy in which some personnel including CO and his family were killed in Churachandpu today.
State forces and paramilitary forces are already working to nab the militants. The guilty will not be spared. Soon they will be brought to the court of justice.
According to the report of the leading news agency, this incident took place in the Churachandpur district bordering Myanmar.
It is said that the militants ambushed the convoy of Assam Rifles and attacked with IED.
According to reports, the wife and son of Colonel Biplab Tripathi, the commanding officer of 46 Assam Rifles, also died in the attack.
Colonel Tripathi was a resident of the Raigad district of Chhattisgarh. No militant organization has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
