CBI Also Recorded The Statement Of Anil Deshmukh

CBI also recorded the statement of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh for the second day.

CBI officials on Friday recorded the statement of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh at Arthur Road Jail in connection with the corruption case. An official gave this information.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had started recording Deshmukh’s statement from Thursday morning and the process would continue on Saturday, the jail official said.

He said a CBI team reached Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail, where Deshmukh is currently lodged. He said that the lawyer of the former minister was also present during this.

Senior NCP leader Deshmukh is currently in judicial custody after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case.

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh had alleged that Deshmukh, who was then the Home Minister.

He had asked selective Mumbai police officers to extort Rs 100 crore per month from restaurants and bars.

Deshmukh has denied these allegations. The CBI had registered an FIR against Deshmukh after a preliminary investigation

The CBI had earlier recorded the statements of suspended police officers Sachin Vaze, Kundan Shinde, and Sanjeev Palande in this case.

Know what is the matter.

A special court in Mumbai allowed the CBI to record the statement of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in connection with the recovery of Rs 100 crore.

The CBI had recently filed a petition seeking permission to record Deshmukh’s statement.

Param Bir Singh had alleged that Deshmukh was forcing him to take Rs 100 crore every month from bars and restaurants in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, sacked Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Vaze unconditionally withdrew his petition in the Bombay High Court on Wednesday.

In this petition, two orders of the commission set up to probe allegations of corruption against former Maharashtra minister Anil Deshmukh were challenged.

The court had on Tuesday said that if the petition was not withdrawn, it would be dismissed.

The court had expressed displeasure over the suppression of facts and non-submission of all documents in the petition.

On Wednesday, Vaze’s lawyer Antoorkar informed the court that Vaze was withdrawing the petition unconditionally.

The court also accepted this. Vaze in his petition had challenged the validity of two orders passed by a commission.

The commission had rejected Wajha’s application to summon Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Milind Bharambe for investigation.

While in a second order, the commission refused to allow him to withdraw his earlier statement against Deshmukh.
