Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday attended the condolence meeting of the policeman who laid down his life along with his three colleagues in an encounter with Pakistani terrorists in Kathua.
Chief Minister and other officials paid tribute.
The Chief Minister paid tribute to Head Constable Jagbir Singh of Suffen police post at Gulshan Ground of Police Headquarters. Deputy CM Surinder Chaudhary, DGP Nalin Prabhat, and other senior civil police, CRPF, and Army officials also paid tribute to the Bravehearts.
Four policemen and five terrorists, believed to be affiliated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit, were killed in the encounter in the remote forest area of Suffen.

Earlier, Omar Abdullah had posted on the social media platform X and said that when we remember Balwinder Singh Chib, Jaswant Singh, and Tariq Ahmed, who lost their lives during the anti-terrorism operation in Kathua, we feel both pride and sadness. My heartfelt condolences to their families. We shall never forget the sacrifice they made while performing their duties. He has prayed for peace for the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured.
Lieutenant Governor paid tribute
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, while paying tribute to the martyred policemen, said that he salutes the brave martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. He has deep condolences for their families. Many terrorists were killed by our heroes in the Kathua encounter.
It is noteworthy that a fierce encounter took place between security forces and terrorists on Thursday morning in the remote forest area of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. 5 Jaish terrorists were killed in this encounter. Four jawans were martyred and five security personnel, including a DSP, were injured. A para commando was also among them. All these terrorists belonged to the People’s Anti-Fascist Front, a front organization of Jaish-e-Mohammed.
