Counting of votes underway for civic polls in Belagavi, Hubli-Dharwad, and Kalaburagi: Karnataka.

Counting of votes is underway for three North Karnataka municipal bodies – Belagavi, Hubli-Dharwad, and Kalaburagi.

The election results of these corporations will decide the strategy ahead for the upcoming district and taluka panchayat as well as the larger Bengaluru Municipal Corporation elections.

The fight will be between the Congress and the ruling BJP, with the JDS having little or no presence in these corporations located in the northern part of the state.

58.59 polling percentage was recorded in Kalaburagi Municipal Corporation, while Dharwad Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Nitesh Patil said 53.81 percent polling was recorded for the HDMC polling which concluded till 6 pm on Wednesday.

Kalaburagi – 300 candidates in the fray.

300 candidates are in the fray for the 55-ward Kalaburagi Municipal Corporation. There are 83 independent candidates, 55 from Congress, 47 from BJP, 45 from Janata Dal (Secular).

26 from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and 20 from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). There are also candidates from some other parties in the fray, who are fighting from lesser seats.

Hubli-Dharwad – 420 candidates in the fray.

In Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation has 82 wards, 420 candidates are in the fray, BJP and Congress are contesting in all the wards.

A total of 3,842 polling stations have been set up in 82 wards, out of which 100 have been identified as sensitive centers.

Belagavi – 385 candidates in the fray.

385 candidates are in the fray for Belagavi Corporation of 58 wards.

In 2013, the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the 82-ward Hubli-Dharwad Corporation, with the Congress winning the 55-ward Kalburgi Corporation election.

When will schools reopen in Karnataka for classes 1 to 5?

According to a report, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has recently said that the government has not yet considered opening schools from classes 1 to 5.

Schools in Karnataka have already reopened for classes 9 to 12 on August 23, while classes for classes 6 to 8 will resume from September 6.
