CRPF will get land to build 29 battalion camps in Jammu and Kashmir, 9 proposed in Jammu and 20 Kashmir. The Central Reserve Police Force CRPF has requested the state to provide land for setting up 29 permanent camps for the convenience of its officers and jawans.
According to the CRPF, there is no possibility of a reduction in the number of its Corps deployed in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in near future. Apart from these, 236 companies of CRPF are also deployed in addition.
CRPF, which is playing an active role in law and order and counter-insurgency operations in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has requested a place in both the provinces of Jammu and Kashmir. Of these, nine are proposed in Jammu province and 20 in Kashmir province.
The concerned officials said that in the context of identifying land for the establishment of Corps Headquarters and Camps in the Union Territory, a meeting of the Union Home Ministry was held in New Delhi last week.
It is attended by senior officials of CRPF, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir State Administration, and senior officials of Jammu and Kashmir Police. After the meeting, the concerned administration was instructed to resolve the matter soon.
Union Administration of Jammu and Kashmir has asked the administrative officials of all the concerned departments involved in this process to complete all the formalities in a time-bound manner.
He said that CRPF Director General AP Maheshwari had written a letter to the Union Home Ministry last month saying that there are not enough residential facilities in Jammu and Kashmir for the personnel and officers of his force.
Most battalion headquarters and camps also do not conform to the norms. The CRPF has been deployed for a long time in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. There is currently no possibility of torture among CRPF personnel in Jammu and Kashmir in view of Pakistan sponsored terrorism.
Therefore, it is necessary to set up battalion camps for CRPF in some places. A senior officer of CRPF, when contacted in this context, said that it is the responsibility of the state government concerned to provide residential and other necessary facilities for the state in which CRPF will give duty.
We had requested the Union Home Ministry based on our requirements in Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry of Home Affairs has held talks with the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Administration in this context.
Now it is an issue between the Home Ministry and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Their list has been submitted to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In Jammu province, nine battalion camps will be set up in Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Reasi, Rajouri, Doda, and Ramban. Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Bandipur in Kashmir province. , 20 battalion camps are proposed to be set up at Baramulla, Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Shopian.
