Cryptocurrency terror network: SIA conducts raids in Jammu, Handwara, and Doda to uncover a terror funding network using cryptocurrency. Digital evidence was seized in a major 2022 case.

SIA raids to dismantle the cryptocurrency network of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Friday searched the houses of suspects at three places in Jammu, Handwara, and Doda in a case related to the financial network of terrorists through cryptocurrency in Jammu and Kashmir.

There is no information about anyone being arrested or detained for questioning during this period, but the SIA has seized some mobile phones, SIM cards, and other digital devices, as well as documents related to financial transactions.

The SIA spokesperson said that the terror funding case in which the search was conducted today was registered in 2022. So far, the hideouts of more than 30 elements have been searched in this case. These include overground workers of active and killed terrorists, drug smugglers involved in smuggling of illegal narcotics, and others.

According to the spokesperson, the case was started after Jammu and Kashmir SIA discovered through its system that cryptocurrency has become a new source of funding for separatists and terrorists in Kashmir.

Apart from financial help to terrorists and their overground workers, cryptocurrency is also being used to prepare local youth to commit violence against India and to join terrorist organizations.

Based on clues found in the investigation done so far in this case, SIA identified some suspicious elements in Jammu, Handwara, and Doda. Their activities were monitored, and based on some other evidence found in it, after obtaining permission from the court, searches were conducted in their houses today.

Cryptocurrency terror network: The spokesperson said that this search operation was done in the presence of impartial witnesses and a magistrate.

Through this search, all the necessary evidence about those people is to be collected, and they are to be punished according to the law who are inciting the youth against India as well as posing a threat to national security.
