Ingredients for Marination: Easy Homemade Grilled Chicken Recipe

  1. Chicken pieces (with or without bone) – 500 g
  2. Yogurt (curd) – 1/2 cup
  3. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  4. Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  5. Red chili powder, one teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  6. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  7. Garam masala – 1 tsp
  8. Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  9. Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  10. Salt – to taste
  11. Mustard oil (or olive oil) – 2 tbsp

Freshly chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp

Steps for Marination:

  1. Mix yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, and all the spices (red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, cumin, coriander, and salt) in a large bowl.
  2. Before putting the chicken pieces in the bowl, make sure they are completely covered in the marinade.
  3. For optimal flavor, cover and chill for at least two hours, ideally overnight

Steps to Grill Chicken on a Gas Stove:

1. Take the marinated chicken out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature.

2. Heat a grill pan or non-stick tawa on medium heat. Brush it lightly with oil.

3. Make sure there aren’t too many chicken pieces on the pan.

4. Cook on medium heat for 6-8 minutes on each side until char marks appear, and the chicken is fully cooked. Use a fork to check for doneness.
