ED summoned Kailash Gaikwad in Anil Deshmukh’s money laundering case: He called for questioning.
Maharashtra Deputy Secretary (Home) Kailash Gaikwad has been summoned by the ED in an alleged money laundering case related to former state home minister Anil Deshmukh.
Gaikwad has also been asked to appear before the ED today. Meanwhile, Maharashtra State Transport Minister Anil Parab also appeared at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office on Tuesday.
The ED had recorded his statement in connection with the agency’s ongoing probe against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.
Parab was interrogated for about eight hours. Talking to media persons, Parab said that ED is an authority and it is my responsibility to answer the officials.
I have answered all the questions asked by him. The agency had issued the first summons to Parab last month.
Following which the minister informed the agency that he had to attend some public functions as a public servant after which he asked the ED to reschedule the date of his appearance.
The agency had recently issued a second summons to Parab, asking him to record his statement on September 28.
The ED had also recorded the statement of Deputy Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Bajrang Kharmate on September 6 in connection with the ongoing probe.
The ED official had earlier this month also recorded the statement of suspended RTO officer Gajendra Patil, who had alleged corruption and bribery in transfers and postings in the transport department.
ED officials have recorded Patil’s statement twice. Last month, the ED searched three locations linked to Parab in a money laundering case against Anil Deshmukh.
One of the premises searched was that of Deputy Regional Transport Officer Bajrang Kharmate.
Parab came under the ED’s probe in April after Assistant Inspector of Police (sacked) Sachin Waze submitted a letter to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court.
