EU Think Tank Said – TLP More Important For Pakistan

EU think tank said – Relations with terrorist organization TLP more important for Pakistan than relations with 27 countries.

For Pakistan, the relationship with terrorist organization Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) is more important than the relationship with 27 democratic countries.

The Government of Pakistan has made it clear by rejecting the proposal of the European Parliament on the misuse of the blasphemy law. The European think tank has said this.

EU think tank: European Parliament passed a resolution on the blasphemy law.

A resolution was passed in the latest session of the European Parliament, demanding greater religious freedom in Pakistan.

Also, the European Union (EU) officials were asked to review the General Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP Plus) for Pakistan in view of the increasing misuse of the blasphemy law.

In January 2014, the EU granted GSP Plus status to Pakistan under its ambitious business scheme.

Pakistan rejected the European Parliament’s proposal on the blasphemy law

In Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet met on May 3 on the EU’s proposal and said there would be no compromise with the blasphemy law of the country.

The European Foundation for South Asian Studies said that by rejecting the EU proposal, the government of Pakistan has made it clear that the relationship with TLP is more important for it.

The EU had asked Pakistan to put in place an effective mechanism to prevent the misuse of blasphemy laws.

It was mentioned in the proposal that since 1987, the highest number of cases of blasphemy occurred in 2020.

The resolution asked the Pakistan government to explicitly condemn discrimination and violence against religious minorities in the country and create an effective system to prevent abuse of blasphemy laws.

Pakistani court asks India to cooperate in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

A top Pakistani court hearing the death penalty case of Kulbhushan Jadhav has asked India to cooperate in the legal proceedings in the case.

He also said that appearing in court does not mean an exemption from sovereignty.

A three-member bench of the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday commenced a hearing on a petition by the Law and Justice Ministry of Pakistan seeking the appointment of a lawyer for Jadhav.
