For new CBI director, these names are being considered. The current CBI director Rishi Kumar Shukla’s term is going to end on February 2. Hence the race for new contenders has started.
According to sources, many officers of 1984, 1985, and 1986 are being claimed as claimants. NIA chief YC Modi, RPF Director-General Arun Kumar, and CBI’s current additional director Praveen Sinha are being named among them.
Apart from these, CRPF Director General AP Maheshwari and ITBP Chief SS Deswal are also being told in the race. There is also a possibility that the term of the current CBI director of the 1983 batch may be extended by six months.
Sources said Rakesh Asthana, who is also holding the additional charge of DG of BSF and DG of Narcotics Control Bureau, 1986 batch Uttarakhand cadre officer, and BCAS Director-General MA Ganapathy are also in the race.
Appeal to CJI to start hearing in courts as before. A large number of lawyers have written a letter to Chief Justice SA Bobde requesting the courts to start hearing before the Corona crisis. Lawyers have said that the virtual hearing failed to carry out judicial work in a proper manner.
Members of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) have written this letter to the Chief Justice. The lawyers also said that they have been going through a lot of difficulties for the last 10 months due to the epidemic.
The organization said that the benefit from the virtual hearing in the courts is less loss and more. This system has failed to serve the purpose of the justice delivery system effectively.
Many top judges have also expressed their displeasure over this arrangement. The organization has told the Chief Justice that a large number of lawyers are from outside Delhi, who live in rented houses here. Due to lack of work, many of them have been forced to leave Delhi along with their practice.
