French President Emmanuel Macron has supported secular laws that allow cartoons to be made on Prophet Mohammed.
The demonstration was organized by Hifazat-e-Islam, a network of teachers and students from thousands of Islamic schools.
The report said that thousands of protesters gathered outside the main Baitul Mokarram mosque in the old area of Dhaka and demonstrated.
The protesters boycotted French goods such as shouting slogans and burning effigies of macros.
Addressing the protesters, the leader of the Hifazat-e-Islam group, Nur-Hussain-Kashmir, said, “I demand the French government to apologize to two Arab Muslims around the world.”
He called for the Bangladesh government to close the French embassy, saying it was a shame that Parliament had not even passed a resolution condemning Macros.
