Gadchiroli: 20-25 Naxalites fired on the police, and fled into the forest after retaliatory action.

The news of an encounter between a Naxalite gang and a police team is coming out from Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli.

It is being told that Naxalites opened fire on the police team after police retaliated in the Vedampalli forest area of Aheri tehsil of Gadchiroli.

After this 20-25 Naxalites fled into the forest. However, the police seized their weapons and some Maoist material from the spot.

The encounter took place on Sunday.

According to a press release of Gadchiroli SP’s office, at around 2 pm on Sunday, a special force of the Gadchiroli police was conducting an anti-Naxal operation in Vedampalli forest.

About 20 to 25 Naxalites started firing on the security personnel. It added that after a heavy exchange of fire between the two sides, the Naxals fled into the dense forest.

It has also been informed in the press release that during the search in the forest area, the police recovered two pistols, a walkie-talkie charger, and other items belonging to the Maoists.

Many Naxalites have surrendered.

Recently, the Gadchiroli police have also arrested two Naxalites with a reward of two lahks each. One of them was identified as Vatte alias Pradeep Vanja Vadhe (40 years).

He was hiding in Mauja Nelgunda of his village Bhamragarh. According to the information received, Naxalites of Gadchiroli are continuously damaging government property.

The SP said that the police are running an anti-Naxal campaign in Gadchiroli, under which 60 Naxalites have been arrested so far and eight Naxalites have also surrendered.
