Tamilnadu police arrested 5 people for raping a student in Kanchipuram.

Five men accused of raping a college girl on the outskirts of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu were arrested on Friday and sent to jail.

The gruesome incident took place on Thursday night when five accused surrounded the 19-year-old girl and her boyfriend at an isolated place near the Bengaluru-Puducherry Outer Ring Road.

The spot is often frequented by local anti-social elements who consume alcohol and indulge in other such activities. The temple town of Kanchipuram has located 85 km from the state capital Chennai.

The couple reportedly reached the spot around 7 pm. On Thursday, two accused caught sight of people drinking nearby. After this, three more people joined both of them.

After which the accused caught the girl’s boyfriend at knife point and dragged the girl to some distance and all five raped her in turn and fled.

Tamilnadu police arrested 5 people: Kancheepuram DSP Julius Caesar said, “The accused threatened to kill the couple at the same time as the woman protested.”

After the incident, the couple fled from the spot and informed their relatives. The girl has been admitted to the hospital and her father has lodged a complaint with the police.

The police managed to track down one of the accused, Vimal Kumar, whose name was taken by other criminals while committing the crime.

The victims recalled his name during police interrogation, which led the police to 25-year-old Vimal Kumar.

After interrogation, the police later arrested Manikandan, 22, Sivakumar, 20, Vignesh, 22, and Thennarasu, 23.

A case of rape has been registered against all five people and sent to judicial custody.
