Government Should Consider New Measures To Curb Corruption

Government should consider new measures to curb corruption.

The arrest of ES Ranganathan, Marketing Director, Gas Authority of India Limited, on charges of corruption, shows that despite all the claims, corruption is not being effectively curbed.

Along with Ranganathan, CBI has also arrested five other people. Some of them are businessmen too.

These days another corruption case is also in discussion in which Praveen Yadav, Deputy Commandant of National Security Guard has been arrested in the fraud case of more than Rs 131 crore.

The extent to which this officer had spread his web of fraud, it is known from this that about 45 accounts of his have been frozen.

Praveen Yadav was also engaged in corruption through middlemen like Ranganathan.

Both these cases of corruption should not be seen as mere exceptions, as the fact remains that such cases keep coming up every now and then.

Whenever raids are conducted under the anti-corruption campaign of the CBI, many cases of corruption come to the fore.

Some of them are also arrested, but even after this, it is hardly known what stringent action was taken against the corrupt elements.

If the corrupt officials are not successful in punishing them at the earliest, then the corrupt elements cannot be discouraged.

In most cases of corruption, it comes to the fore that the officials and the businessmen together do arbitrariness.

Collusion between corrupt officials and businessmen is not new, but it is a matter of concern that the expected success in breaking this collusion is not being seen.

It is true that corruption has been curbed at the top level of the central government and no major corruption case has come to the fore in the last six-seven years.

But it is worrying that there is no significant reduction in corruption at the lower level.

The government will have to seriously consider how this shortfall comes.

It is not only necessary that the officials involved in corruption should be monitored and raids should also be conducted against them from time to time.

Along with this, it is also necessary that those reasons should also be redressed due to which the officials remain capable of committing corruption.

The government should also not ignore that due to the nexus between the officials and the businessmen, tax evasion is also taking place on a large scale.

This tax evasion is also a form of corruption. Therefore, the government should consider new measures to curb corruption.
