Ireland Created History With A Thumping Victory

Ireland created history with a thumping victory, defeating former world champions in the ODI series.

Ireland’s team registered a historic win over the West Indies in the last match of the three-match series played on Sunday night.

In the deciding match, Ireland first restricted the hosts for 212 runs and then registered a historic victory by achieving the target in 44.5 overs for the loss of 8 wickets.

With the 2-wicket win, the team captured the series 2-1 and won the ODI series against West Indies for the first time.

Andy McBrine was adjudged Player of the Series along with Player of the Match for his all-around performance.

Ireland’s team returned after losing the first match of the three-match series and tied the second match.

Batting first, hosts West Indies scored 212 runs in the deciding match, thanks to a half-century from Shai Hope and 44 from Jason Holder.

For Ireland, Andy McBrine took 4/28 in 10 overs while Craig Young took 3/48 in 7.4 overs.

Ireland did not have a good start chasing the target and William Porterfield was out on the very first ball. After this, captain Pol Starling took over the team and took the score to 73 runs.

He was dismissed after scoring 44 runs but at the other end, McBrine took the half-century innings to the team’s score.

Harry Tector also showed his hand and the innings of 52 runs off 76 balls brought the team closer to victory.

In the end, Mark Adair and Craig Young created history by leading the team to victory. The team defeated West Indies for the first time in the ODI series by going to the West Indies.

This is Ireland’s first ODI series win against a major team. West Indies won the first match of the series by 24 runs.

After this, Ireland won the second match by 5 wickets and captured the series with a 2-wicket win in the last ODI.
