This pressure area is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Sri Lanka and South Tamil Nadu coast.

In view of the weather conditions, the IMD has also alerted the fishermen not to venture into these areas for the next two days.

Chennai-based Meteorological Center has predicted rain in more than 12 districts here on Thursday.

These include Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Toothukodi, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Dindugal, Tiruchirapalli, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu.

Earlier on Tuesday, IMD had told in its forecast that there is a possibility of rain in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal for the next five days.
