India And Australia Navies Begin Joint Exercise
India and Australia Navies begin joint exercise amid tension from China, exercises have been done with four more countries. The navies of India and Australia began a two-day joint exercise in the Indian Ocean from Wednesday amid ongoing tensions with China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
During the exercise, both armies have landed with complex naval skills, anti-aircraft drills, and a full range of helicopter operations. This is the fourth important military drill of the Indian Navy since June.
A similar naval exercise has been completed earlier with the US, Japan, and Russia. The Navy spokesman said that the objective of this exercise is to increase reciprocity, develop mutual understanding, and learn each other’s best.
The exercises will include naval strategy, surface, and anti-aircraft drills, and cross deck flying operations. According to the spokesperson, the Australian Navy has brought its Air Warfare Destroyer, HMAS Hobart, onboard as a lead ship. While India has fielded INS Sahyadri and INS Karmuk in practice.
It may be noted that after the mutual cooperation agreement with Australia in June, the Indian Navy was allowed to go to Coco’s and Keeling Islands. This exemption has enabled the Navy to monitor Chinese warships, submarines, and aircraft entering the Indian Ocean region.
Naval exercises with Russia, which took place in the past, were named Indra. There were exercises such as hitting targets in the surface and air.
It also had a fleet of helicopters in addition to Admiral Tributes, Russian warships Admiral Vinogradov and Boris Butoma. The Indian Navy along with its warships Rannvijay, Sahyadri, Kiltan, Shakti, and helicopters participated in this exercise.
