India will be among the top three naval powers in 10-12 years: Rajnath Singh.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that the naval base being developed hereunder Project Seabird should be the largest naval base in Asia.

If needed, they will try to increase the budget allocation for this. He also said that India aims to be among the top three naval powers of the world in the next 10-12 years.

Rajnath said, before seeing and understanding Project Seabird, I had a curiosity about it.

It gives me immense pleasure to see Karwar up close and my confidence level about this naval base has increased tremendously.

Addressing the naval officers and sailors, the Defense Minister said, the completion of this project will not only strengthen India’s defense preparedness.

But it will also accelerate the work of business, economy, and humanitarian assistance given by India.

Rajnath said it is being said that this will be the largest naval base in India. But we want it to be the largest naval base in Asia.

If need be for this, we will try to increase the budget allocation. Rajnath along with Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh also conducted an aerial survey of the project area.

The Defense Minister said that the future of this naval base is very bright and all the credit goes to the officers and sailors.

Rajnath Singh will be on a visit to Cochin Shipyard Limited today, will inspect the indigenous aircraft carrier

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Cochin Shipyard Limited on Friday and inspect the first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) under construction there.

It will be named INS Vikrant. Its sea trials will be completed this year and it is likely to be commissioned next year.

This information has been given in a release issued by the Ministry of Defense. On his maiden visit, Rajnath reached the Southern Naval Command here on Thursday evening, the release said.

He was accompanied by the Chief of the Navy, Admiral Karambir Singh. He was received by Vice Admiral AK Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command.

After reviewing the progress of IAC construction, the Union Minister will visit some of the important training establishments of Southern Naval Command.

He will be briefed about the important ongoing training and operational activities being carried out by the Command.
