Earlier, Shai Hope, who was dismissed cheaply in the 1st ODI, played the role of an opener very well. Winning the toss and opting to bat, West Indies got off to a good start by Hope and Kyle Myers.
Myers batted aggressively, hitting boundaries in the fourth and sixth overs on the debutant charge, as the Indian bowler conceded 36 runs in his first three overs.
Myers hit a four and a six off Thakur in the first two balls. Siraj, however, bowled tightly in the opening spell.
Deepak Hooda got the team the first success by dismissing Myers. Kyle Myers (39 runs) shared a 65-run partnership with Hope for the first wicket.
Then Hope and Shamrah Brooks, who landed at number three, started building a partnership.
Hooda and Patel again bowled tightly so that the West Indies team could add only 42 runs from the 10th to the 20th over. Hope and Brooks hit a six and four in the 21st over on Chahal.
Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan then put Patel on the bowling, who took the wicket of Brooks.
Shamrah Brooks (35 runs) shared a 62-run partnership for the second wicket with Hope.
After this, in the very next over, Yuzvendra Chahal did not even allow Brandon King to open the account and showed the way to the pavilion.
After the dismissals of Brooks and King, Hope found a good partner in the form of Captain Pooran.
India wins 12th consecutive series against West Indies: Nicholas Pooran scored 74 runs with the help of six sixes.
