There has been heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir last week. Not only Kashmir, but the hilly areas of the Jammu division have also received heavy snowfall.

Roads to many remote areas are still closed. One such village is situated on the hill in Doda district – Chili Bala. There is knee-deep snow around the villages and on the road.

The village is about two kilometers away from the main paved road. The snowfall stopped on Monday, but along with it, the cold wave made it difficult to leave the house.

Meanwhile, the condition of 25-year-old Manju Devi of the village deteriorated. Treatment was not possible in the village.

The family members got restless, the road was closed, the vehicle could not move, so how to take it to the threshold of the hospital.

The family members were immersed in worry, while Manju Devi’s condition was deteriorating continuously.

Any longer could have put lives in danger. In this difficult situation, the family remembered the Indian Army.

Manju Devi’s father then sought the help of the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the Army based in Gandoh.

Manju’s father told the whole situation to the Karmandang Officer of the RR Unit.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, this army officer immediately started the rescue operation, Formed a team of soldiers, and sent them to the village.

It was not possible to take a vehicle to the village, so he walked on knee-free snow for two kilometers and reached the woman’s house in the shortest possible time.

He made the female patient lie down on the cot and then brought him to the main road. After this, she was taken to Gandoh Health Center by an army vehicle.

After first aid here, she was referred to GMC Hospital in Doda. Here the doctors treated her immediately.

The family and the district administration thanked the army for its humanitarian efforts and described the army as a true friend of the people in times of crisis.
