WhatsApp has tied up with both the major banks of the country for both these services. Insurance and pension products sold on the WhatsApp platform have been designed keeping in mind the low-income people.
On Wednesday, Abhijit Bose, the head of WhatsApp India, told the Fuel for India-2020 event that the company is going to start insurance service from its digital platform by the end of this month.
At the same time, WhatsApp is also preparing for a micro pension service. WhatsApp is also doing a pilot project on micro pension service.
WhatsApp has tied up with SBI General Insurance, HDFC, and many other leading companies to implement insurance and micro pension services.
SBI General has designed its insurance product according to WhatsApp. The sale of the health insurance product will start first on the WhatsApp platform.
Their price will be very low and customers will be able to pay according to their convenience. Low cover insurance products will be offered to customers.
WhatsApp is also signing agreements with several financial institutions for a micro pension. More than 80 percent of the country’s population does not have a pension facility, their old age goes into poverty.
