IPS, Who Was Detained For 2 Hours For Accusing CM
IPS, who was detained for 2 hours for accusing CM. ASP of Narcotics Department in Manipur, Thounaojam Brinda is in the news these days. This officer accused Chief Minister N Biren Singh that he had pressurized him to quit the drugs mafia.
IPS officer Brinda had said this in an affidavit given in the Imphal High Court, which was leaked recently. Meanwhile, Brinda was detained for two hours for allegedly breaking the lockdown protocol.
What is the matter
On July 28, police in the capital Imphal took IPS Officer Brinda into custody for breaking the lockdown. He was released after two hours with a fine. Allegedly, Brinda was traveling late at night due to unnecessary reasons. Let me tell you that according to the guidelines of the Home Ministry, no one is allowed to go out in the night curfew without very necessary reasons.
These are the same police officers who accused the CM that he interfered in the investigation of drug mafia and pressurized them to leave the mafia. The allegations were considered serious because Brinda said this by filing an affidavit in the Manipur High Court this month.
What charge
The case is almost two years old. IPS Brinda caught a high profile drug mafia in June 2018 while posted at the Narcotics and Affairs of Border Bureau. A large number of drugs were found from this person named Luhkhoosei Jou. Its price was estimated to be more than 29 crores rupees.
Later, Brinda filed an affidavit in the court saying that when she was taking action against the drug mafia, only then a BJP leader called her CM Biren Singh. He is one of the influential BJP leaders of Drugs District, who was allegedly advocated by CM Biren Singh himself.
The accused is out of jail
After two years, the case sprung up again because in May this year, the court released the main accused on interim bail. After this Brinda criticized it. For this criticism of the judiciary, a case of contempt is being run against him.
Against this contempt case, Brinda filed a counter affidavit in the Manipur High Court, in which he has made these serious allegations. In this 18-page affidavit, the police officer has taken many names.
He told that on behalf of the CM, it was said that his son or wife should be arrested instead of drug mafia. Brinda refused to do this. After the matter bounced, the opposition also became an attacker on the CM. However, CM Singh said that at present, the matter is in court, so they cannot comment on it.
Now he is also arrested for breaking the lockdown rule, according to Brinda, it is for this reason that he refused to obey the CM and also took the name of the CM in the affidavit in the court. According to the report of the print, Brinda called it a punishment due to the name of CM in the drug scandal.
The police officer is being harassed
Brinda was transferred from the Narcotics and Affairs of Border for allegedly not agreeing to the CM’s decision to leave the drug mafia and has not been given any work since then. Also, they are being given many other problems. Like Brinda through his Facebook post informed about his arrest for breaking the lockdown.
He told me that he and his two female friends were surrounded by armed squad, who had AK and all bulletproof cars. Brinda alleged that when she was caught on this charge, a lot of vehicles were passing from nearby, which were not stopped. He has also posted videos of vehicles on Facebook.
Getting respect
Brinda, 41, is a mother of 4 children. He has been known for bravery and honesty in the police department. Earlier in the year 2018, he received the honor from the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce for exposing drug rackets. The same year he also received the Gallantry Medal.
These officers, who came to Manipur Police in the year 2013, are currently getting punished due to the continuous raids of drug mafias. He was transferred from the Narcotics Department. But Brinda has not yet added a new posting. They say that they would prefer to be terminated instead of suffering injustice.
