Iskcon Temple priests were being threatened in Bangladesh. The Priests were told to leave the temple, or else they will get killed, eyewitnesses told.

A Hindu religious site was once again targeted in Bangladesh. The ISKCON temple in Dhaka was attacked on Thursday night.

Earlier, Hindu priests living in the ISKCON temple were being threatened with death and asked to leave the temple.

Medical officer Rasmani Keshavdas, an eyewitness to the attack on the ISKCON Radhakanta temple, said a man named Haji Shafiullah had been threatening to leave the temple for years.

Along with that, he said that he had also offered us money. One of his men, Ashraf Sufi, had threatened to kill us.

A mob of 200 people vandalized the temple.

Let us inform you that on Thursday, a mob of more than 200 people attacked the devotees and ransacked the ISKCON Radhakanta temple in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

ISKCON Kolkata Vice President Radharaman Das told the news agency that on Thursday evening when devotees were preparing for the Gaur Purnima festival, a mob of 200 people entered Dhaka’s Sri Radhakanta temple premises and started vandalizing it.

Appeal to Bangladesh government to take strict action

He said that three of our devotees were injured. They called the police and were successful in escaping the miscreants from the temple premises.

Das said the attack was a matter of grave concern and appealed to the Bangladesh government to take strict action and provide security to the Hindu minorities in the country.

Even before this, there have been attacks on Hindu religious places.

The incident comes after a series of attacks on minority religious places in Bangladesh last October.

An ISKCON temple in Bangladesh’s Noakhali city was vandalized and a devotee was killed by a mob on October 16 last year.

Earlier on October 13 last year, communal tension had escalated in Bangladesh after allegations of desecration of the Quran at a worship pavilion in Kamila led to violence in several districts across the country.
