Kumar Mangalam Birla quits as non-executive chairman of Vodafone Idea, will be the new director.
Kumar Mangalam Birla has resigned as a non-executive director and non-executive chairman of Vodafone Idea. Now Himanshu Kapania has been appointed as non-executive chairman.

The company said in the information given to the stock exchanges that the board of directors of Vodafone Idea in its meeting has accepted the request of Kumar Mangalam Birla to step down.
Birla had requested to step down as non-executive director and non-executive chairman. These changes are taking place at a time when VIL is facing a financial crunch and the company is struggling to survive.
Thereafter, the Board of Directors ‘unanimously’ elected Himanshu Kapania as the non-executive chairman of the company, who is currently a non-executive director.
Based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the company has appointed Aditya Birla Group nominee Sushil Agarwal as additional director (non-executive and non-independent), the company said.
Who is Himanshu Kapania.
Kapania has experience working at the top level in global telecommunications companies. He has worked in this field for 25 years.
He has also served on the Global GSMA Board for two years and has also been the President of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) for two years.
Significantly, if Vodafone Idea shuts down, then its more than 27 crore customers will be in big trouble.
