LDF MLAs Did Not Got Relief From Supreme Court

LDF MLAs did not got relief from Supreme Court, Kerala government’s appeal was dismissed.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to grant relief to LDF MLAs in the case of uproar in the Kerala Assembly.

The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal filed by the Kerala government against a High Court order seeking withdrawal of a criminal case registered against LDF legislators.

The criminal case was registered in connection with the uproar inside the state assembly in 2015.

A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah observed that the right to freedom of expression and privileges of MPs does not confer on them the right of immunity against criminal law.

A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah had on July 15 reserved its verdict on the petitions.

On March 3, 2015, LDF members of the then opposition ransacked the House to prevent the then Finance Minister KM Mani, who was facing corruption charges, from presenting the budget.

They had thrown the speaker’s chair off the podium and damaged electronic devices like the computer, keyboard, and mic on the desk of the presiding officer.

The Kerala High Court in its order issued on March 12 had refused to accept the plea of the state government.

The Kerala government maintains that the incident took place when the Assembly was in session and no offense could have been registered without the prior approval of the Speaker.

The High Court said that elected representatives are expected to maintain the prestige of the House.

Karnataka New CM: Know who is Basavaraj Bommai, who will now be the new Chief Minister of Karnataka, know the specialty

Basavaraj Bommai will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. He is counted among the powerful Lingayat leader and close confidants of Yeddyurappa.

After the resignation of BS Yeddyurappa, he was selected for the post of Chief Minister. It was Yediyurappa who proposed Basavaraj’s name and Dharmendra Pradhan announced his name.

Basavaraj will take oath as the Chief Minister on Wednesday at 11 am. Basavaraj Bommai, 61, was born on 28 January 1960 in Hubli.

Former Chief Minister SR Bommai’s son Basavaraj is one of the big leaders of BJP in Karnataka. He did his BE degree in 1982 from Bhumaradi College of Engineering and Technology.

Basavaraj Bommai’s wife’s name is Chennamma and they have two children. Basavaraj Bommai was made the Home Minister of Karnataka earlier this year.

He was also a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from 2004 to 2008. He was elected MLA from Dharwad in 1998 and 2004.

When Yediyurappa became the Chief Minister, he was elected MLA from the Shigaon constituency of Haveri district.

Strong Leader of Lingayat Community.

It was already believed that choosing the chief ministerial candidate from the Lingayat community would be the priority, as Lingayats, who constitute about 17 percent of the population in Karnataka, have considerable political influence.

In terms of assembly, they have an influence on about 30 percent of the seats. In such a situation, BJP will not want any dent in it.

A name was also ruled out, which may have directly clashed with Yeddyurappa. This is the reason that Basavaraj Bommai was selected for the post of Chief Minister.
