Lt Gen Manoj Pandey will be the next Indian Army Chief. The appointment as the Chief of the Indian Army has been approved. He is the first engineer officer to reach this position.
After Manoj Mukund Naravane, Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey was the most senior officer in the Army. General MM Naravane is retiring at the end of this month.
During the last three months, some army officers retired, due to which Lt Gen Pandey came to the top in seniority. At present, he is the senior-most officer in the Indian Army after General MM Naravane.
Recently, Lt Gen Raj Shukla, Lt Gen CP Mohanty, and Lt Gen YK of Army Training Command have retired.
Chhattisgarh: Naxalites attack a police camp late at night in Bijapur, four soldiers were injured.
Naxalites have carried out a major attack in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Naxalites have attacked a police camp located in Bijapur.
According to a leading news agency, Naxalites opened fire on the police camp. Four police personnel have been injured in this attack.

Bastar IG P Sundarraj has given information about the attack. He said that the Naxalites have targeted the Jaigur camp in the Kutru police station area.
He told that this attack happened on Sunday night. Inspector General further said that the jawans who were injured in the attack were brought to the district hospital for treatment.
Due to the critical condition of two jawans, they have been airlifted and brought to the hospital in Raipur.
