A witness in the Malegaon blast case has revealed to the Special NIA Court that the Maharashtra ATS pressured him to frame five RSS leaders, including Yogi Adityanath.

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh was posted as Additional Commissioner of ATS at that time.

The statement of this witness, produced by the prosecution, was recorded by the ATS under Section 161 of CrPC at a time when the investigation of the case was not in the hands of the NIA.

Sameer Kulkarni, an accused in this case, has informed a television channel about the disclosure of the said witness.

According to Kulkarni, the said witness has told the court that an officer named Parambir Singh and Rao had pressurized him to frame Yogi Adityanath and four other Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders, Indresh Kumar, Swami Aseemanand, Kaka Ji, and Deodhar Ji.

There was pressure to take the name. He was illegally detained at the Mumbai and Pune offices of the ATS and threatened that if he did not do so, he would not be released and would face the same consequences as the other accused.

The said witness has recorded his five-page statement in the NIA court.

Let us tell you that on September 29, 2008, six people were killed and more than 100 were injured in an explosion in a motorcycle in Malegaon.

The investigation of this case was handed over to Maharashtra ATS.

The ATS had made Bhopal sitting MP Sadhvi Pragya, Lt Col Purohit, Sameer Kulkarni, Ajay Rahilkar, Ramesh Upadhyay, Sudhakar Dwivedi, and Sudhakar Chaturvedi accused in this case.

All of them were booked under various sections of terrorism including murder, attempt to murder. Those accused of these charges can be punished with life imprisonment to the death penalty.

In this case, the ATS had recorded the statements of around 220 witnesses. So far 15 of the witnesses have turned hostile from their statements after the investigation of this case was handed over to the NIA.

Accused Sadhvi Pragya has also said many times that she was subjected to unbearable atrocities in the custody of ATS. She has openly taken the name of Parambir Singh in her statements.

At present, Parambir Singh himself seems to be in trouble. Several cases of corruption have been registered against them by the Maharashtra Police and they are being investigated.
