A big bomb blast took place near the Parliament in Turkey’s capital Ankara, the government claimed it was a terrorist attack; two officers were injured.

A major bomb explosion occurred near the Parliament House on September 1 (Sunday) in the Turkish capital Ankara.

The attack occurred when parliament was about to resume with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address.

Giving information about this incident, the Turkish government said that two terrorists involved in this attack were killed and two police officers were injured.

Turkish Interior Minister gave information.

Turkey’s interior minister said the two terrorists approached the main entrance of the building and detonated explosives in the area where the ministerial building and parliament are located.

The Home Ministry has termed it a terrorist attack. According to the ministry, the incident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. local time.

According to a local news agency, Turkey’s Interior Minister said that one of the two terrorists who carried out the incident was killed in retaliation, while the other blew himself up.

Debris was scattered around after the explosion.

The terrorists had reached there in a public vehicle. A Turkish official said the attackers had snatched the vehicle after killing the driver in Kayseri, 260 km southeast of Ankara.

Television footage showed Bam Squad officers investigating near Parliament and government buildings.

Also, debris was scattered around after the blast. A rocket launcher is also visible in the footage near a vehicle located nearby.

Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunç said that an investigation into the terrorist attack has been started. Our fight against terrorism will continue with greater determination.

The police have cordoned off the area and increased security measures.

Authorities have not identified any specific terrorist group behind the attack. The incident comes almost a year after an explosion in Istanbul killed six people and injured 81.
