Gold worth Rs 2.1 crore has been seized by Customs officials at Mangaluru airport in Karnataka from January 1 to January 18.

A total of Rs 2 crore one lakh 69 thousand 800 gold worth Rs 2 crore one lakh 69 thousand 800 has been recovered by the customs officials at the airport from New Year’s Day till 18th.

The total weight of gold worth crores found so far is 3 thousand 677 grams. Thousands of grams of gold were smuggled.

Gold smuggling has been successfully foiled to a large extent by the recovery of such a huge amount of gold by Customs officials.

A major crackdown by Customs officials at Mangaluru airport: Smuggling of e-nicotine liquid e-cigarettes also failed.

The Customs Department has issued a press release today.

The press release stated that eight passengers traveling from Dubai and Abu Dhabi had tried to smuggle gold into the country through nefarious means. which has been thwarted.

A passenger from Dubai had also smuggled e-nicotine liquid e-cigarettes worth Rs 3 lakh 20 thousand 265. The accused had hidden e-nicotine liquid e-cigarettes in his luggage.

However, customs officials said further investigation is underway. They have also learned that different cases at different stages are being investigated.

Gold worth Rs 4.54 crore was seized at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Tuesday recovered gold worth crores at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Two people were also arrested. 8.230 kg of gold worth Rs 4.54 crore was seized from both the accused.

The DRI stated that they’d acquired particular intelligence that gold turned into being smuggled into India withinside the shape of paste via way of means of a syndicate of passengers journeying from Dubai to Mumbai on January 17

The official said surveillance was already being maintained by DRI officials at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

They identified the suspicious passengers and were intercepted by the team at the airport.

8.230 kg of gold in the form of paste has been recovered from the passengers on a thorough examination. The cost of gold is around Rs 4.54 crore.
