A 19-year-old college student was allegedly strangled to death in Rajanukunte on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

he prosecutor said that the crime took place before the amendment in the POCSO Act in the year 2017.

Therefore, the convict was sentenced to only 10 years for the offenses of raping his stepdaughter and aggravated sexual assault.

He said that after the amendment of the Act in 2019, there is a provision of minimum punishment of 20 years for these crimes.
