Major reshuffle amid violence in Manipur, Rajeev Singh appointed new DGP, replacing P Dongle.

A major administrative reshuffle took place in the state amid Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Manipur.

Actually, 1993 batch IPS officer Rajeev Singh has been made the new DGP of the state. He has replaced P. Dongel, the chief of the police force.

Meanwhile, police force chief P Dongel was transferred to OSD (Home).

This administrative reshuffle assumes significance amidst the riots in Manipur. This information has been given by issuing an order from the state.

Major reshuffle amid violence in Manipur: Have also worked in CBI.

CRPF IG Rajeev Singh has been transferred to the Manipur cadre three days ago.

He is basically a resident of Bihar. IPS Rajiv Singh was a Tripura cadre officer, but due to special circumstances, he has been inter-cadre transferred to Manipur for three years.

Considering the track record of 1993 batch IPS Rajeev Singh, it has been decided to transfer him to Manipur. Rajeev Singh has also worked in CBI and has done extensive work in the field of Naxalites.

The new post was created by the Manipur government.

Also, the order states that Dongle has been given the responsibility of taking over as OSD (Home) at the top level of IPS by the Manipur government.

Soon after violence broke out in the state on 3 May, the central government appointed former CRPF chief Kuldeep Singh as security advisor to the Manipur government.

Death Toll Reached 80.

Regarding the one-month-long conflict in the state, officials said that the death toll in the conflict has reached 80 since the caste violence started on May 3.

Caste violence broke out in Manipur for the first time after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized in the hill districts on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

A separate committee was formed to investigate.

During his visit to Manipur, Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to the people for peace.

He said that a judicial inquiry committee would be constituted under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge to probe the violence. Along with this, a peace committee is also being formed.
