Manchester United equal to Liverpool, beat Aston Villa 2–1 in EPL.

A penalty goal by Bruno Fernádies helped Manchester United beat Aston Villa 2–1 to equal defending champions Liverpool in the English Premier League (EPL) points table.

Manchester United now have 33 points from 16 matches to reach Liverpool in terms of points, but manager Jurgen Klopp’s side Liverpool are on top due to a goal difference.

Anthony Marshall scored a 40th-minute goal for Manchester United to give his team a 1-0 lead, but Traore scored in the 58th minute to put Aston Villa 1–1.

Two minutes later, Bruno Fernádies converted a penalty goal to put Manchester United 2–1 ahead and the team held it to the final. This is Manchester United’s eighth win in 10 matches.

This is the ninth penalty goal since Fernandes joined the team 11 months ago. Since joining Manchester United, Fernandes has missed out on a penalty against Newcastle United in October.

This is Manchester United’s 32nd win in the last 44 matches of the league against Aston and has lost only four matches so far.

In other matches, Tomas scored the first goal of 2021 in the EPL, helping West Ham defeat Everton 1-0. Nosek scored the only goal of the match in the 86th minute.

With this, West Ham prevented Everton’s campaign of four consecutive wins in the league. Despite this defeat, Everton has 29 points while West Ham’s team is 10th with 26 points.

The second phase of the seventh season of ISL from 12 January

New Delhi The second phase of the seventh season of the Indian Super League (ISL) will start on 12 January and will run till 28 February.

ISL organizer Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) said on Saturday that the second leg of the second leg of the current seventh season will be played on January 12 between Northeast United and Bengaluru FC.

The final league match of the second leg will be played between Mumbai City and ATK Mohan Bagan on 28 February.

ISL organizer FSDL said the venue for the seventh season play-off and the final match would be announced later. FSDL had earlier released the schedule of the first half matches of the season.

The 2020-21 season of the ISL is the biggest ever as another team is attached to it this time as East Bengal and the number of teams participating in the league has increased from 10 to 11.

The number of matches this season also increased to 115, compared to 95 matches played in the previous season.
