Memorial For Galwan Martyrs: The Memorial Built For The Martyrs

Memorial for Galwan Martyrs: The memorial built for the martyrs of Galvan Valley, the names of all 20 Indian soldiers are inscribed. A memorial has been erected on the KM-120 post in the name of 20 Indian soldiers who died in a clash with Chinese soldiers in the Galvan Valley of eastern Ladakh.

The names of all the martyrs, including Colonel B Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16th Bihar Regiment, have been inscribed on this war memorial. The memorial unit itself is built on the Durbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldi road.

You may be aware that there was a violent clash between Chinese and Indian soldiers in the Galvan Valley on the night of 15 June. Colonel B Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16th Bihar Regiment, was killed in the skirmish.

In fact, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China attempted to infiltrate the border. These 20 brave sons of India, by putting their lives at stake, thwarted this Chinese effort.

Let us also tell you that China has not given any information about the number of its casualties in the skirmish. But an intelligence report from the US revealed that the Chinese military suffered twice as much in the skirmish.

Around 35 soldiers from the Chinese side were killed during this period. During a visit to Lukung advance post in East Ladakh on 17 July, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also praised the soldiers of the Bihar Regiment for showing amazing valor in fighting Chinese soldiers.

The names of these knights of Galwan valley are also being inscribed on the National War Memorial. You are aware that on 25 February 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the National War Memorial in honor of the martyred soldiers.

This memorial has been prepared in honor of the brave soldiers who sacrificed for the country after independence. Then there was only one war memorial (India Gate) in Delhi, but it was built by the British in memory of the 84 thousand soldiers who died during the First World War and the Afghan War.

After this, Amar Jawan Jyoti was made in the memory of about 4 thousand soldiers who died in the 1971 war. But this is the first time that this memorial was built in honor of the soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation after independence.
