Minister Jayakumar from Tamil Nadu said the GST amount should be paid soon. Minister Jayakumar insists at the GST meeting that the outstanding amount should be paid as soon as possible.
Minister Jayakumar has urged the GST Council to expedite the payment of Rs 10,775 crore in GST compensation to Tamil Nadu.
The 42nd meeting of the GST Council was chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In it, the issue of providing GST compensation to the states was discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, Administrative Reforms Minister Jayakumar thanked the government for providing Rs 1,483 crore in compensation.
He also thanked for the assurance that the outstanding amount of Rs 4321 crore for the year 2017-18 would be disbursed soon. Minister Jayakumar also demanded that the 10775 crore rupees GST compensation due to Tamil Nadu should be paid soon.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Nirmala Sitharaman said no consensus had been reached on how to compensate the states.
However, he said the central government would make arrangements for the states to borrow and the central government would not be able to borrow.
Meanwhile, the Government of Tamil Nadu has allocated funds for the rehabilitation of children victims of sexual violence.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order for the launch of a new scheme under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act in Tamil Nadu.
Under this scheme, arrangements are made to provide compensation for a minimum of Rs. 50,000 to a maximum of Rs. 10 lakhs to children who are victims of sexual violence.
The Tamil Nadu government has said that children who are sexually abused will be compensated between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 7 lakh. Compensation of between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh will be given for the worst sexual assault.
